A flash flood killed one person and injured two others in the Indonesian province of South Sumatra, the province’s disaster mitigation agency said on Wednesday.
Head of the emergency department at South Sumatra Disaster Mitigation Agency Ansori told local media that the three victims living in a house near a river were swept away in the flash flood that occurred in the district of South Ogan Komering Ulu on Tuesday.
The flash flood has affected at least 125 locals and destroyed two houses and two bridges, and inundated 55 houses, he added.
“Victims impacted by the flood chose to seek refuge in neighboring houses instead of the tents we are preparing. Foods and medicines are being readied for them,” Ansori said.
