JAKARTA – Vice President (Wapres) Ma’ruf Amin asked for the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to follow up on the Indonesian House project which is planned to be built in Makkah.
This was disclosed by the Vice President when receiving the Honorary Visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to RI, YM Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, in Jakarta, yesterday.
“I hope for the Saudi government’s support for the construction of the Indonesian House,” hoped the Vice President quoted in his statement, Tuesday (28/2/2023).
According to the Vice President, the existence of the Indonesian House will make it easier for Indonesian pilgrims to find accommodation, both when carrying out the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.
“The Indonesian House is very important to provide maximum support to Indonesian pilgrims,” explained the Vice President.
It is known, the Indonesian House project is planned to include an apartment complex which will later be used as a residence for Indonesian pilgrims or Umrah pilgrims.
This initiative emerged during a meeting between the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Panjaitan and BUMN Minister Erick Thohir with the CEO of the Royal Commission of Makkah and Holy Sites Abdulrahman F. Addas, in Riyadh, today.
The Royal Commission has also proposed the participation of Indonesian construction companies in the project.
In this way, Indonesia’s professional workforce can play a role in design, development, and operations from the start.
Furthermore, the Ambassador requested that the cooperative relationship between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia not only be related to Islamic issues, but also more substantive issues.
“Hopefully this relationship is not only in Islamic relations, but in a higher strategic relationship,” asked Ambassador Amodi.
The Ambassador also promised that regarding the various challenges in enhancing Saudi-Indonesian cooperation that had been conveyed by the Vice President at this meeting, they would be followed up, and he would be ready if needed at any time.
“I am ready to carry out orders and this is my obligation. I want relevant parties in Indonesia to be able to make contact with me. I am ready 24 hours, this is my duty as ambassador,” he said.
Closing the meeting, the Vice President asked the Ambassador to convey his greetings to the King and Crown Prince, and hoped that Ambassador Faisal Amodi could carry out his duties properly.
“Say my regards to the King and Crown Prince. Thank you for your visit, happy carrying out your duties,” concluded the Vice President.
