Densus 88 Nabs 2 Suspected Terrorists of JI, JAD Network in East Java


The National Police’s special counterterrorism unit Densus 88 arrested two suspected terrorists in East Java on May 23 and 24, 2023.

“Densus 88 arrested 2 suspects of terrorism criminal acts in the East Java region,” said the National Police spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan said on Thursday, May 25, 2023.

Ramadhan explained that the two suspects, Y and T, are allegedly members of the Jemaah Islamiah terrorist network and the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah network, respectively.

After the arrests, the police would conduct further investigations and develop the case. “The case and details of the case are still under investigation,” he said.

On Wednesday, May 24, the anti-terror squad searched a house in Dupak Krembangan Village, Surabaya, East Java, which is Y’s home.

The day before, on May 23, a suspected terrorist identified as YR was arrested in Kedungkandang, Malang City, East Java.

Law enforcement is still ongoing. On March 17, 2023, Densus 88 nabbed five suspected JI network terrorists in Palu City and Sigi, Central Sulawesi.

Furthermore, on January 20, 2023, three suspected members of the JI terror group were apprehended in the Jakarta and Banten areas.
