Three people were killed and 10 others injured after a bus and a truck collided on Tuesday on a highway in the Indonesian province of Central Java, a local traffic police officer said.
The crash occurred in the province’s Sragen region at around 2 p.m. local time, Sragen traffic police’s law enforcement unit head Irwan Marviyanto told local media.
According to an initial report, the driver of the bus with 13 people on board allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit the back of the truck that was going on the same lane. A further investigation is still underway.
Marviyanto said that all victims have been transferred to nearby hospitals. “Two people were killed at the scene, and one died afterwards in the hospital,” he added.
Deadly road accidents, often caused by overloading, bad road conditions and reckless driving, are frequently reported in Indonesia.
