President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo warns the public to continue working to develop their regions, maintain economic stability, and remain unaffected by the political situation ahead of the 2024 general elections.
“I always implore [the citizens] to avoid letting the political situation in 2024 disrupt our economic stability. [The consequence] could be dire,” Jokowi said during his remark at an event in Cirebon on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.
The President told the public, including the residents of Cirebon, to avoid being hasty about the upcoming political situation in 2024. According to Jokowi, the most important thing right now is to develop regional economic resilience.
Entering the political year, Jokowi seems to continue observing the developing situation and positioning himself as an observer. He said that the government is focusing itself on repairing the economy and realizing the citizens’ welfare.
Jokowi believes that the political climate is currently warming up in preparation for the 2024 general elections. Several political parties are still looking for an appropriate coalition format to face the election.
“Currently, the political attraction is not finished. So, let’s agree to observe from afar first,” said the president.
In addition, he said, the candidates for the elections have not been finalized yet. Therefore, Jokowi requests the citizens focus their attention on working hard to advance the economic growth of their own regions. “Let’s just work hard,” he remarked.
