K-pop girl group TWICE announced a new concert date in Jakarta as part of their ‘Ready to Be’ World Tour. “ONCE Indonesia! We are honored to be welcoming #TWICE back for their first stadium show in Jakarta! Stay tuned for more details, see you all soon!” the promoter Mecimapro posted on Instagram, on Monday, August 29, 2023.
ONCE is the official fandom name for the South Korean girl group.
The nine-member ensemble show, scheduled for Saturday, December 23, 2023, will be the first K-pop group to hold a solo concert at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS).
JIS can accommodate up to 82,000 spectators. As it opened on July 24, 2022, JIS is now the largest stadium in Indonesia, replacing the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium.
Jihyo TWICE pranked ONCE Indonesia
On Saturday, August 26, a member of ONCE Indonesia posted on her X (formerly Twitter), @dwangxox, that TWICE leader Jihyo claimed in a video call that they have no plans to perform in Indonesia.
The recent concert announcement certainly shocked ONCE Indonesia. @dwangxox jokingly said that Jihyo had succeeded in pranking Indonesian fans. As an expression of joy and frustration for being pranked, @dwangxox then announced a giveaway of Candybong, TWICE’s lightstick.
However, Mecimapro has not yet revealed the ticket prices and benefits for the Jakarta concert. Aside from Indonesia, TWICE announced three more shows as part of their 5th World Tour; Melbourne on November 4, 2023, Mexico City on February 3, 2024, and Sao Paulo on February 6, 2024.
