Viral Video of Halim High Speed Train Station Ceiling Leaks, This is KCIC’s Explanation

Last weekend a video circulated showing the ceiling of the Whoosh Halim High Speed Train Station, East Jakarta, leaking. The ceiling allegedly leaked due to the high intensity of rain that poured down on the capital city on Saturday (4/11/2023).

“A number of pictures circulating on social media show that the interior of the station ceiling is leaking, not at the Halim High Speed Train Station location,” said KCIC GM Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa in an official statement, Monday (6/11/2023).

He continued, another upload showing an overflow of water on the side of the stairs also did not occur inside the station, but in the area outside the arrival lobby on the south side.

The overflow of water, he continued, came from water channels which were unable to hold the water discharge due to the very high intensity of rain. However, Eva said that this condition did not disrupt services because there were other areas that passengers could still pass through to get to the arrival lobby area and pick-up area.

“All passenger flows continue to run normally without any problems. The operation of the Whoosh Fast Train is also not affected by this incident,” said Eva. He added that at the time of the incident PT KCIC had coordinated directly with WIKA as the contractor for the construction of the High Speed Train Station to immediately carry out investigations and repairs to the affected area for passenger comfort.
