MediaTek announced the Dimensity 9300, its latest flagship mobile chip, will come with a unique All Big Core design. This unique configuration combines extreme performance with MediaTek’s power-saving technology to deliver an unprecedented on-device user experience of gaming, video recording, and generative AI processing.
“Dimensity 9300 is MediaTek’s most powerful flagship chip to date, bringing a major increase in computing power to flagship smartphones with our innovative All Big Core design,” said Joe Chen, President of MediaTek in a statement, November 6, 2023.
“This unique architecture, combined with our enhanced on-chip AI Processing Unit, will usher in a new era of generative AI applications as developers push the limits of edge AI and hybrid AI computing capabilities,” he added.
MediaTek’s next-generation APU 790 AI processor has been integrated into the Dimensity 9300. It is designed to significantly improve generative and power-efficient AI performance for faster and more secure edge computing. The APU 790 doubles the performance of integer and real number operations, while reducing power consumption by 45 percent.
By adapting the Transformer model for operator acceleration, the processing speed of the APU 790 is 8 times faster than the previous generation, with image generation in a second using Stable Diffusion.

As part of MediaTek’s AI ecosystem, Dimensity 9300 will support the latest mainstream language models, such as Meta Llama 2, Baichuan 2, Baidu AI LLM, and others. In this way, it can help developers implement multi-modal generative AI applications to provide users with generative AI experiences, such as text, images and music.
With Arm’s latest flagship GPU, the Immortalis-G720, the Dimensity 9300 delivers an enjoyable mobile gaming experience. The Dimensity 9300 offers a nearly 46 percent increase in GPU performance with the same power consumption levels as the Dimensity 9200.
Not only that, the Dimensity 9300 also provides a 40 percent reduction in GPU power consumption at the same performance as the previous generation chipset. This gives users a huge performance boost without sacrificing battery life.
Combining the chipset’s extreme octa-core CPU design with MediaTek’s second-generation hardware ray tracing engine, smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9300 will deliver console-level global lighting effects at a smooth 60 FPS. Plus, this chipset allows users to multitask smoothly, so they can game and stream videos simultaneously or watch other videos while gaming.
Dimensity 9300 redefines mobile photography and video capture by combining low-power AI-ISP and always-on HDR with resolution up to 4K at 60 frames per second (fps). This chipset also supports 4K cinematic mode at 30 fps with real-time bokeh tracking for professional-quality bokeh enhancement, as well as 4K AI Noise Reduction (AI-NR) and AI processing of RAW photos and videos. Additionally, Dimensity 9300 will support the new Ultra HDR format in Android 14 for next-generation smartphones.
