Increasing Environmentally Friendly Energy, Surabaya City Government Trials Electric Mass Transport

The Surabaya City Government continues to strive to increase the use of clean energy and reduce the environmental impact of vehicle use as well as to reduce congestion by using mass transportation.

This statement was made by the Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Service, Tundjung Iswandaru, during the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between PT Kalista Nusa Armada (Kalista), a subsidiary of PT Indika Energy Tbk, and the Surabaya City Government.

Collaboration between the two parties for a trial and evaluation program for the use of electric vehicles as public transportation in the city of Surabaya.

“This electric vehicle trial is the first step in the transition to using electric vehicles as public transportation in the city of Surabaya. “The Surabaya City Government appreciates the cooperation carried out by Kalista as a partner in the electric vehicle transition process,” he said in his statement, Wednesday (8/11/2023).

He said this collaboration was part of the energy conversion transition process carried out by the Surabaya City Government, towards the use of environmentally friendly energy, especially in the public transportation sector.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding was carried out by the Director of Kalista, Tammam Jannata and the Head of the Surabaya City Transportation Service, Tundjung Iswandaru.

On that occasion, the Surabaya City Government tested several electric vehicle units such as single buses, medium buses and micro buses.

Kalista is a company that provides comprehensive and integrated electric vehicle transition solutions. “Through this collaboration, we support the acceleration of the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles which is being carried out by the Surabaya City Government. “This is in line with Indika Energy Group’s commitment to realizing carbon neutrality in Indonesia,” said Director of Kalista, Tammam Jannata.

He explained that the appointment of Kalista as a partner in testing electric vehicles for public transportation in Surabaya shows high trust in Kalista as a company providing comprehensive and integrated electric vehicle transition solutions.

Tammam emphasized that Kalista’s fleet maintenance capabilities and technical expertise in the electric vehicle industry ecosystem will increase effectiveness while reducing the complexity of fleet operations.

As a group, Kalista has a post-operational network for utilization and reuse of fleet and batteries.

“For us, this trust is the initial stage of the company’s journey in providing high-quality solutions in the electric vehicle industry,” he said.
