Indonesian Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Erick Thohir received a new assignment from President Joko Widodo.
Erick was appointed as Ad Interim Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Marves) following the condition of Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan (LBP) who is still recovering from illness in Singapore.
“Because Mr. LBP, the Coordinating Minister for Marves is currently undergoing medical treatment, President Jokowi has appointed Mr. Erick Thohir, Minister of State-owned Enterprises as Ad-interim Coordinating Minister for Marves,” said Presidential Special Staff Coordinator Ari Dwipayana, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
Through his personal Instagram account, @luhut.pandjaitan, Luhut said he was experiencing tremendous fatigue, so he had to be hospitalized.
“A few days ago after attending an activity, I suddenly felt very tired. This fatigue is unlike what I usually feel after work,” he wrote.
Seeing his husband’s unnatural condition, Luhut said his wife took him to a hospital in Jakarta for further preventive measures. With such a condition, Luhut said, practically for several days he was not allowed by the team of doctors to do his usual activities.
“Even to just check the latest news and updates that I routinely do every morning, I was not allowed by my wife. ‘Rest and listen to your body first, Pa’,” Luhut recalled.
Luhut also said that he had received an offer from his friend, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean, and Singapore Foreign Minister Dr. Vivian Balakhrisnan. For this reason, Tuesday (October 10, 2023) afternoon.
Luhut decided to undergo a recovery stage in Singapore, as well as conduct a more comprehensive medical examination and evaluation of his health.
