FIFA President Infantino Arrives in Indonesia, Welcomed by Erick Thohir

FIFA President Gianni Infantino arrived in Indonesia on Thursday (9/11) afternoon ahead of the opening of the 2023 U-17 World Cup on Friday (10/11). In a post on Instagram, Infantino showed a photo with PSSI General Chair Erick Thohir when he arrived in Indonesia.

“It’s my pleasure to be here, in the football-loving country of Indonesia, which is preparing to host its first FIFA tournament, the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup, starting tomorrow!” wrote Infantino via Instagram.

Together with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), Infantino is scheduled to attend the opening of the 2023 U-17 World Cup which will take place at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT) on Friday evening.

“Special thanks to everyone at PSSI, led by my friend, President Erick Thohir, and everyone involved in organizing this special competition,” wrote Infantino.

“Best wishes to all the participating teams, may this tournament be the start of a fantastic football journey that brings people together in celebration,” wrote the man from Switzerland.

In an upload via Instagram, Erick Thohir also showed Infantino’s presence in Jakarta.

“Welcome to Indonesia, Gianni Infantino,” said Erick Thohir.

The 2023 U-17 World Cup will take place from 10 November to 2 December. On the first day of the tournament, four matches will be held, including the Indonesian U-17 National Team vs Ecuador at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT).
