PT PLN (Persero) successfully supported the peak event of Sail Teluk Cenderawasih (STC) 2023 which was held in the Samau Beach Area, Biak Numfor, on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
With an uninterrupted electricity supply, the event, which was attended by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), ran smoothly.
When delivering remarks, President Jokowi said Papua, which has abundant natural resources, is Indonesia’s veranda in the Pacific Region.
Cenderawasih Bay which has the richest marine ecosystem can be the right choice to introduce Indonesia’s maritime, tourism, and socio-cultural potential.
This is by this year’s STC which carries the theme “Strengthening Indonesia’s Maritime Sovereignty in the Pacific”.
With the peak of the 2023 Sail Teluk Cendrawasih event, culture, dance, music, and local Papuan products can be introduced to the national and even international and global levels.
“This will encourage the number of tourists, will encourage event creators, will encourage investor interest to come and advance the land of Papua,” Jokowi said.
The President hopes that events like STC 2023 can be continued and improved, especially by involving more people and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
That way, the benefits of this activity can be felt by the Papuan people until after the event. At least, the peak of STC 2023 is estimated to be attended by 10 thousand people.
PLN Distribution Director Adi Priyanto said that PLN ensures the reliability of electricity for the event where the supply is supported by the Biak electricity system which has sufficient generating capacity, to ensure a secure electricity supply for Sail Teluk Cenderawasih 2023.
With a capacity of 36.39 KW and a peak load of 16.7 KW, a power reserve of 19.69 KW is still available.
“Alhamdulillah, PLN’s electricity supply has proven to be reliable so that the peak event can take place without problems. By using and maximizing the layered security scheme (adaptive defense scheme), the event took place with electricity without blinking,” Adi said.
