Inaugurating New Members of HIPMI Jaya, Governor Heru Encourages Innovative Young Entrepreneurs to Drive Jakarta’s Economy

Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartonoinaugurated 300 new members of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) Jaya Batch 2023 for the 2021-2024 service period, at Pola Room, City Hall, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

Pj. Governor Heru said that the role of entrepreneurs is needed to maximize innovation in driving the economy across sectors.

“I encourage HIPMI Jaya to take advantage of opportunities, produce innovations, and synergize in creating new jobs. Thus, it can contribute positively to economic growth in Jakarta,” he said.

According to Pj. Governor Heru, HIPMI Jaya can take a role in realizing Jakarta as a global business city.

“For that, several supporting factors are needed, where the role of young entrepreneurs is the spearhead in bringing innovation and change,” said Pj. Governor Heru.

These supporting factors include a strong and globally connected economic ecosystem, good research and innovation capacity, and a comfortable space to live in. Other supporting factors include potential attraction for tourists, a clean, comfortable, and sustainable environment, and good accessibility.

“Currently, Jakarta is transforming into a competitive global business city. The role of young entrepreneurs is becoming increasingly important to realize Jakarta is not only the center of the Indonesian economy but also a major player on the global stage,” said Pj. Governor Heru.

Pj. Governor Heru also revealed that amidst a slowing global economy, Jakarta’s economy grew by 4.9 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of 2023.

“The contribution of young entrepreneurs is needed to maintain economic resilience and improve people’s welfare. Jakarta should have at least 10 companies that are included in the top 500 companies in the world,” concluded Pj. Governor Heru.
