PLN Icon Plus, as the Beyond kWh Subholding of PT PLN (Persero), emphasizes its commitment to continue to encourage the use of new and renewable energy in Indonesia.
Most recently, PLN Icon Plus through its strategic partnership with PT Investasi Hijau Selaras, presented a green energy service solution through the construction of a Rooftop Solar Power Plant(PLTS) installation for the needs of PT CJ Feed and Care Indonesia, with a capacity of 3.5 MegaWatt peak (MWp).
President Director of PLN Icon Plus, Ari Rahmat Indra Cahyadi said that this strategic collaboration reflects the commitment of PLN Icon Plus to supporting energy transformation in Indonesia towards more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy use that refers to the application of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG).
“In order to implement ESG towards energy transition and also to achieve the target of using clean energy in Indonesia, PLN Icon Plus focuses on utilizing renewable energy sources, such as solar power, which can be processed into electricity without carbon emissions,” said Ari Rahmat at the Ground Breaking Ceremony for the start of the construction of Rooftop Solar PV facilities in 4 locations owned by PT CJ Feed and Care Indonesia, centered in Serang, Banten, Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
The total capacity of the rooftop solar power plant to be built by PLN Icon Plus together with its partner, PT Investasi Hijau Selaras is 3.5 MWp at the factories of PT CJ Feed and Care Indonesia, whose locations are scattered, namely: Serang (Banten), Lampung, Semarang (Central Java) and Jombang (East Java). This rooftop solar power plant will produce 3.5 MWp of clean energy, which is equivalent to the electricity needs of around 2,000 households.
“This green energy solution will help PT CJ Feed and Care Indonesia in using green energy that contributes significantly to reducing carbon emissions. In one year, this rooftop solar power plant is estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by around 3,000 tons, equivalent to planting around 60,000 trees,” added Ari Rahmat.
Meanwhile, the Director of PT CJ Feed and Care Indonesia, Mr. Han Se Yoon expressed his gratitude for the presence of PLN Icon Plus in an effort to realize rooftop solar power plants in his company.
“We support the use of green energy in Indonesia with the presence of rooftop solar power plants. Thank you for the cooperation with PLN Icon Plus to realize clean energy in our company environment, especially in implementing ESG according to the Paris Agreement,” said Han Se Yoon.
President Director of PT Investasi Hijau Selaras, Victor Samuel, said that his company will continue to improve its collaborative partnership with PLN Icon Plus in optimizing the use of green energy in Indonesia.
“The construction process of rooftop solar power plants in 4 locations takes 6 months and is expected to be operational to produce green energy in mid-2024. We hope that the collaborative partnership with PLN Icon Plus for the utilization of new and renewable energy can continue to be improved,” Victor added.
With the growing use of green energy in the industrial sector, it is hoped that Indonesia can reduce dependence on fossil energy, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen national energy security.
