Indonesia Set to Host AFF U-16 and U-19 Championship 2024

Indonesia has been selected to host the prestigious AFF U-16 and U-19 Championships organized by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF). These two annual international youth football tournaments, specially designed for men under-16 and under-19, are scheduled to take place in June and July 2024.

“The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) announced that the AFF U16 Championship 2024 will be held in Indonesia in Surakarta (Solo) and Surabaya,” the AFF said on its Instagram account, @theaseanfootball.

The U-16 Cup will be held at Manahan Stadium and Sriwedari Stadium in Solo, from June 21 to July 4. The U-19 Cup, on the other hand, will be hosted at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium and the Gelora Stadium in Surabaya, from July 17 to July 29.

The Indonesian U-16 team is trained under the guidance of Nova Arianto, the assistant coach of the national team, while the U-19 team is under the tutelage of Indra Sjafri.

Indonesia had previously hosted the AFF U-16 Cup back in 2022 in Yogyakarta, where the national youth team was crowned champions after defeating Vietnam at the Maguwoharjo Stadium.

In addition, Indonesia also hosted the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup in Jakarta-Bekasi. Unfortunately, the national team failed to qualify for the semifinals, finishing third in Group A, behind Vietnam and Thailand.
