House Member Asks PLN to Prove 100 Percent Electrification in 2024

House of Representatives (DPR) Commission VII legislator Mulyanto on Friday urged the state electricity company PLN to stop promoting 100 percent electrification and to prove it in the field as soon as 2024.

“Members of the House expect that PLN will not forget about the target that was agreed upon for 2024, which is disseminating access to electricity nationwide across Indonesia,” said Mulyanto in a press statement on May 26.

Mulyanto said PLN must prove it is serious about realizing the target. “This must not be like previous years, promises remain promises and in fact, they don’t materialize,” he said during a working visit to the West Java PLN on Thursday, May 25.

The PKS politician highlights that there is still an aspect of injustice as some regions have a surplus of electricity, but on the other hand, there are regions that still see common households turn dark in the evening due to the lack of electrical access.

The estimated number of households without electricity at the end of 2023 amounted to 318,682 households with an electrification ratio of 98.8 percent.
