Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) answered directly the doubts of a number of parties who considered that the Nusantara Capital (IKN) project would not be successful. It is believed that the capital city of Jakarta will not move to East Kalimantan.

Jokowi admitted that he was surprised that there were parties who still had doubts about the IKN. The former mayor of Solo emphasized that the construction of the IKN was continuing and the physical work was continuing.

He revealed that the IKN development project was not a short-term project and would take 10 to 15 years to build. However, the President emphasized that construction of IKN infrastructure had already begun in the field.

“So if anyone is still in doubt, the field has moved like this,” said Jokowi in a statement, quoted on Saturday (25/2/2023).

In fact, the President is sure that the construction of the palace will soon be realized so that it can function next year.

“This area is the palace area, the Presidential Palace, which I am optimistic that next year, in August, God willing, the ceremony will be held here,” he said,

He revealed that the privilege of the Presidential Palace at the IKN was because it was the original work of the nation’s children. The design was designed by artist I Nyoman Nuarta and will be adapted to the conditions on the ground.

He also ensured that all the buildings in the IKN would be immediately occupied as soon as they were completed. This was done so that the excitement at the IKN would soon materialize.

“If there is a crowd, it means we need restaurants, we need schools, from kindergartens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools, universities, we need hospitals, we need clinics, we need entertainment, we need malls, and so on,” said the President.

Not only the Palace, Jokowi also targets the construction of 36 ministerial houses to be completed in June 2024. In fact, the government has ensured that a number of civil servants will be transported to IKN, especially young civil servants. At the IKN, civil servants will be provided with housing and support facilities for their families.
