TNI and PLA Forge Stronger Military Relations Through Diplomacy and Cooperation

The relationship between the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is growing stronger day by day, driven by mutual trust and cooperation.

“Both countries’ military relationship is built on the foundation of politics, economy, culture, education, and most importantly, through diplomacy and defense cooperation,” stated TNI Chief of Staff General Bambang Ismawan, as reported by TNI Public Information Center on Monday, August 7, 2023.

As part of strengthening diplomacy and defense cooperation, the TNI Chief attended the 96th anniversary celebration of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, hosted by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Indonesia, Lu Kang, at the JW Marriot Hotel in Jakarta.

The TNI Chief extended congratulations to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army on its 96th anniversary, celebrated on August 1, 2023.

The reception commemorating the 96th founding anniversary of the PLA, organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Indonesia, was attended by the TNI Army Chief of Staff Koorsahli Lieutenant General Nyoman Cantiasa, former Navy Chief of Staff Admiral (Ret.) Marsetio, former Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General (Ret.) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, former Head of the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla) Vice Admiral (Ret.) Desi Albert Mamahit, defense attachés from various countries in Indonesia, representatives from Indonesian businesses, representatives from Chinese companies in Indonesia, as well as representatives of the Chinese community, with around 700 participants in total.
