PLN Successfully Provides Uninterrupted Power Supply for Record-Breaking Angklung Performance

PT PLN (Persero) has achieved a milestone by delivering uninterrupted power supply, also known as zero downtime (ZDT), for the grand angklung performance held at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium on Saturday night, August 5, 2023. The event, attended by 15,110 participants, has secured its place in the Guinness World Records as the largest angklung ensemble ever assembled and the world’s biggest.

The Chief Executive Officer of PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, who was present at the location, stated that PLN successfully supplied uninterrupted power of 764 kilo volt ampere (kVA) using a backup Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) of 800 kVA.

Darmawan, accompanied by his wife, Diny Darmawan Prasodjo, ensured that all PLN’s preparations for the event ran smoothly. During the performance, Diny Darmawan Prasodjo participated as a player alongside tens of thousands of angklung performers, surpassing the previous world record.

The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, along with the First Lady, Iriana Joko Widodo, and the Vice President, Ma’ruf Amin, accompanied by his wife, Wury Ma’ruf Amin, graced the occasion. PLN had also set up a dedicated power network to secure the electricity supply in the ZDT zone of the GBK area.

“Demonstrating our commitment, PLN supports various national and international events by catering to their electricity needs. With this scheme, we are capable of serving such massive performances,” Darmawan stated on Monday, August 7, 2023.

PLN established a special command post with dozens of personnel on standby throughout the event. Darmawan continued by emphasizing PLN’s dedication to bolstering a modern electrical system to ensure reliable, uninterrupted power supply for major events.

He mentioned that the current power supply in Jakarta from PLN stands at 8,734 megawatts (MW), with a peak load of 5,550 MW. This leaves PLN with a reserve capacity of 3,184 MW that can be utilized for various events in Jakarta.

“PLN is prepared to uphold and ensure the reliability of power supply for all major events in Jakarta, including the upcoming 78th Independence Day celebrations, culminating in the flag-raising and lowering ceremony on August 17,” Darmawan concluded.
