Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — The rupiah exchange rate closed at IDR 15,650 per US dollar on Wednesday (8/11) afternoon. Garuda’s currency weakened 14 points or minus 0.09 percent from previous trading.
Meanwhile, the Bank Indonesia (BI) Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) reference rate put the rupiah at IDR 15,629 per US dollar in trading this afternoon.
Currencies in the Asian region closed mixed. It was recorded that the South Korean won weakened 0.18 percent, the Malaysian ringgit weakened 0.24 percent, the Singapore dollar weakened 0.05 percent, the Japanese yen weakened 0.17 percent.
Meanwhile, the Philippine peso strengthened 0.20 percent, the Thai baht strengthened 0.02 percent, and the Chinese yuan strengthened 0.04 percent.
Likewise, the currencies of developed countries moved in various ways. It was recorded that the Australian dollar strengthened 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the European euro weakened 0.23 percent, the Canadian dollar weakened 0.04 percent, the British pound weakened 0.28 percent, and the Swiss franc weakened 0.20 percent.
Money Market Analyst Lukman Leong said it weakened against the rebounding US dollar.
“The US dollar rebounded amid investors’ concerns that Fed Chair Jerome Powell would take a hawkish tone in his speech tonight,” he told CNNIndonesia.com.
