Price of Cayenne Pepper at Koja Market IDR 100,000 Per Kilogram, Trader: Little Supply From Kramatjati Main Market

The high prices of red cayenne peppers, green cayenne peppers and curly chili peppers at the Koja Baru Market are due to the small supply at the Kramatjati Main Market. This was revealed by one of the traders at Koja Baru Market, Jasnita (49), who buys chilies every day at Kramatjati Main Market.

According to him, price spikes usually occur before Christmas and New Year. “The supply is decreasing from there. If a lot of supply goes to the Jakarta Main Market, prices will fall,” said Jasnita when met by Kompas.com at her stall, Thursday (9/11/2023).

“But, if it’s a little, it’s hampered. There are a lot of buyers, there’s not a lot of goods. So, prices go up,” said Jasnita again. The woman, who has been trading in the market for 25 years, said that the price increase this time was considered unreasonable. “It’s really high. Never in the last two years. The most expensive is IDR 60,000. This is the end of 2023.

“Last year, the most expensive was during New Year,” he said. “Three years ago, it was 2021, the price was up to IDR 120,000. But, only for a moment. At least 1 month. “Now, it has appeared again, it’s been 10 days, the chilies have been increasing for 10 days,” he continued.

For your information, as of Thursday, November 9 2023, the price of red cayenne pepper and curly red chili at Koja Baru Market has reached IDR 100,000 per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of green cayenne pepper at Koja Baru Market is IDR 70,000 per kilogram. The price has soared since the last 10 days from IDR 30,000-IDR 40,000 per kilogram.
