The attitude of Gibran Rakabuming Raka who continued to advance in the 2024 presidential election after the issuance of the decision of the Honorary Panel of the Constitutional Court (MKMK) was considered evidence that President Joko Widodo‘s family was complacent with power.
This was revealed by the political observer from the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) Ridho Al-Hamdi.
“This shows a precedent. First, Jokowi and his family are too complacent, because they became mayors, governors, and presidents for two periods. Indeed, power is lulling, lulling,” he said when contacted, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
According to him, the last bastion of politics that destabilizes morality and violates ethics is social sanctions. The people can give it to those who benefit from the Constitutional Court’s decision.
“Again, the way to punish is social sanctions. Don’t vote for a presidential-vice presidential candidate pair that has an electoral impact from the Constitutional Court’s decision,” he explained.
Ridho said that Jokowi, who was initially considered a new hope in the 2014 presidential election, but at the end of his term of office turned as if he was a new nobleman.
“This means that the morals of our leaders do not reflect our eastern face which is full of ethics,” he said.
For this reason, Ridho continued, the people need to take steps to return democracy to its proper path.
“Legally, it does not violate, it is the only way for citizens to punish those who enjoy the Constitutional Court’s decision,” he said.
Previously, the MKMK‘s decision stated that there was an ethical violation committed by the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Anwar Usman in the Constitutional Court’s decision number 90 / PUU-XXI / 2023 regarding the age limit for presidential and vice presidential candidates.
MKMK even removed Anwar Usman from the position of Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court and was prohibited from participating in hearing disputes in the 2024 elections.
