Indonesian Trade Ship Crashes Into Royal Selangor Yacht Club Jetty

A barter trade ship from Indonesia lost control and crashed into the Royal Selangor Yacht Club jetty here, damaging two yachts about 7am today.

Selangor Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) assistant director Maritime Commander Sharenliza Ghazali said the incident occurred when the KLM Maulana Hasil Abadi ran into engine problems while exiting the Asa Niaga jetty.

He said MMEA’s Benteng 02 boat, which was conducting its routine patrol rounds in the area, rushed to the scene upon receiving information.

“The collision caused the two yachts to be dragged. There were 15 Indonesian crew members on the trade boat.

“No one was hurt in the incident and there were no fatalities.

“The boat was brought to Fulsail jetty,” he said.

He reminded the public and the maritime community to ensure their safety and that their boats were in good condition before sailing to avert untoward incidents at sea.
