Singapore-Based Retail Analytics Software ‘Whale’ Now Available in Indonesia

Whale a leading Singapore-based retail analytics software company announced its expansion into the Indonesian market. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Singapore, Whale recently completed a successful Series C fundraising round with support from Temasek and leading investors.

Whale has a team of over 400 employees, 70 percent of whom are dedicated engineers. As a pioneer in the retail technology industry, Whale will realize future needs for retail analytics and operations. As a retail space AI co-pilot, Whale will help companies develop their retail spaces. In the first event in Indonesia, Whale collaborated with Plug and Play Tech Center Indonesia as a co-host.

Jia Chai Low, Director of Business Development of Whale said, that Whale specializes in marketing technology and digitization of store operations for retail stores, with the mission of “Empowering Business Growth”.

By leveraging key technology innovations – AI, IoT, and Data, Whale enables retail stores or brands with Actionable Insights and Operation Automation capabilities to reduce operational costs, improve business efficiency, and forge meaningful relationships with customers, driving digitization across all customer touchpoints for retail stores and international brands.

“So we would call ourselves the AI co-pilot for the retail space. We utilize AI and big data to help businesses save time and resources,” he said.

Kelvin Prince, Director of Business Development Indonesia said, one of the innovations from Whale is the SaaS 2.0 platform, in the form of AI that processes videos from cameras commonly used in stores. Through this camera, Whale’s AI will process and generate customer data.

“In terms of accuracy, we achieved 95 percent for laboratory scenarios, and 99 percent for real scenarios in stores. We also get insights such as gender, age, group size, such as one person, two people or three people and the rest,” he said.
